지난 12일(수)~15일(토)에 올랜도 비전 교회에서 열린 목자 컨퍼런스와 어린이 목자 컨퍼런스에 다녀왔습니다. 가정교회 컨퍼런스에는 늘 도전과 감동이 있는데, 이번 어린이목자 컨퍼런스에서는 더욱 특별한 은혜와 감동을 느꼈기에 저희 성도님들과 함께 나누어 보려고 합니다.

    이번 컨퍼런스는 처음으로 같은 기간, 같은 장소에서 어린이목자 컨퍼런스와 어른 목자 컨퍼런스가 동시에 진행되었습니다. 그래서 식사 시간에 큰 친교실에서 모두 모여 함께 식사를 하게 되었는데 부모세대와 자녀세대가 한 자리에서 식사하는 모습이 무척 감동적이었습니다. 특히 아이들이 워터파크에서 물놀이를 마치고 식사 시간보다 조금 늦게 친교실에 도착하였는데, 먼저 친교실에 와있던 어른 목자 목녀님들이 아이들에게 환호하고 박수를 쳐주며 맞이하는 모습에서, 자녀를 향한 부모님의 격려와 사랑이 느껴져서 너무나 흐뭇했습니다.

    두 번째로는 올랜도 비전교회 성도님들의 섬김이었습니다. 식사 때마다 정성이 가득 담긴 것이 한 눈에 보이는 식탁을 준비해 주셨는데, 음식 준비를 위해 필요한 다양한 재료들을 구입하고, 예산을 절감하려고 한국 음식 재료가 많고 저렴한 아틀란타로 7시간을 운전해서 다녀오셨다는 말씀을 들었습니다. 온 교회가 함께 섬기시는 모습이 결코 억지로 또는 누가 시켜서 하는 것이 아니라 자원하는 마음으로 하시는 것임이 느껴졌습니다. 하나님께 받은 은혜와 축복을 나누고 싶어서 기쁨으로 즐겁게 섬겨주시는 모습에 진한 감동을 받게 되었습니다.

     세 번째로는, 가정교회의 목회자님들의 섬김의 모습이었습니다. 목자 컨퍼런스에서는, 목자 목녀님들께 감사하는 마음으로 목회자님들이 도우미로 헌신하십니다. 음식 준비와 서빙에 연극과 특송도 도맡아 하시면서 그동안 고생한 목자 목녀님들을 섬겨주십니다. 모두들 바쁘신 와중에도 컨퍼런스 일정보다 하루 일찍 오셔서 기꺼이 준비와 작업을 해주시는 모습이 은혜로왔습니다. 이것은 진정 목자 목녀님을 사랑하고 아끼는 목회자님들의 마음이 드러난 것이기 때문입니다.

    네 번째는, 우리 어린이목자들의 헌신과 결단이었습니다. 짧은 스킷이었지만, 아이들이 하는 연극을 통해 어린이목자들의 어려움과 무게를 엿볼 수 있었습니다. 그런 아이들이 말씀을 듣고, 예수님과 함께 폭풍속으로 발을 내딛겠다고, 예수님의 양을 먹이겠노라고 결단하는 모습을 보며, 어린이 목자도 우리와 함께 영혼구원의 사역을 해 나가는 동역자임을 깊이 느끼게 되었습니다.

     이번 컨퍼런스를 통해 우리 어린이목자들과 목자 목녀/ 목부님들이 각 교회에서 영혼 구원하는 예수그리스도의 제자로 그 역할을 넉넉히 감당해 내셔서 이 땅에 하나님의 나라가 더욱 견고히 서나갈 수 있기를 기도하며 돌아왔습니다. 함께 기도해주셔서 감사합니다.

Returning from Chidrens’ Shepherd Conference

     I went to the Shepherds’ Conference and Children’s Shepherd Conference at Orlando Vision church this past week from 12th (Wed) through 15th (Saturday).  There are always challenges and deep impressions at these house church conferences but with even more special grace at this Chidrens’ Shepherd Conference so I thought I would share with our members.

     This conference was the first time that a conference for children and adult shepherds was held concurrently at the same place.  So during mealtime, everyone gathered in the large fellowship hall to eat together.  It was very touching to see parents and children eating together.  In particular, when the children arrived at the fellowship room a little later than mealtime after playing in the water park, the adult shepherds and women who came to the fellowship room greeted the children with cheers and applause, showing the parents’ encouragement and love for their children.  I was so happy to feel their support.

     The second thing was the service of the Orlando Vision Church members.  Each table was so lovingly prepared at every meal.  I heard that they drove seven hours to Atlanta to make the purchase for available Korean food ingredients, while saving costs of the budget.  I could feel that the whole church was serving with a willing heart, not out of coerced duty.  I was deeply moved by the way they served with joy, out of a desire to share in the grace and blessings that they had received from God. 

     The third was the service of the pastors of the house church.  At the Shepherd Conference, the pastors dedicate themselves as helpers out of gratitude to the shepherds and their wives.  In addition to preparing and serving food, they have taken charge of plays and special performances, serving the shepherds and their wives who have toiled until now.  Even though everyone was busy, it was a blessing to see them willingly come a day earlier than the conference schedule to work and prepare.  This is because the hearts of the pastors who truly love and care for their shepherds have been revealed.

     The fourth was the dedication and determination of our childrens’ shepherds.  It was a short skit they presented but through it I was able to get a glimpse of the difficulties and the weight of their role as child shepherds.  Seeing those children listen to the Word and make a decision to step out into the storm with Jesus and feed Jesus’ sheep, I felt deeply that the child shepherd is also a co-laborer with us in the ministry of saving souls. 

     I have returned praying throughout this conference that our child shepherds and other shepherds will fulfill their roles as disciples of Jesus Christ who save souls in each church so that the Kingdom of God can stand more firmly on this earth.  I thank you for joining me in prayer.
